A Church where YOU will feel at home.

"COME AS YOU ARE!"

As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life and witness.

To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express faithfully the witness we make in our own time.

Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

It’s Thanksgiving and this time of year the calendar just flies by, before we know it will be Valentine’s Day.   First off I would like to wish everyone safe travels this Christmas season as we go to and fro visiting family, friends and stores.  The Christmas season brings an extra rush to our step as we prepare for Christmas morning.  Everyone is getting everything together and those of us who wing it still have some kind of list to help us prepare.

How are you preparing for this Christmas season spiritually? What are you doing to get yourself ready for the joy of the birth of our Lord and Savior?  As I look back over my life I see that I rarely prepare for that gift that cannot be opened, I have just accepted it and usually treated it like that ugly sweater from Aunt Linda (name changed to protect the innocent.)  During the hustle and bustle of the season take some time to reflect on the past year and to prepare for the best gift you will get this Christmas.

Oak Hill United Methodist Church is preparing for this season by looking back and “re-discovering” our old traditions this season, as our way to prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ.  Our history tells us that we used to celebrate the birth without it getting lost in the noise.  By doing family things as a family and helping others we will not prepare but move closer to God in the process.  Things like decorating the church, singing Christmas carols, breaking bread, sharing gifts, sharing stories and most of all being in community we will make this Christmas different and hopefully make a difference as well. So come and join us this season we would love to see you.

You’re Brother in Christ
