A Message from the Pastor

I’m so proud to be serving at Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Oak Hill is a wonderful church with a dedicated church family. Oak Hill has been in Gilmer County for over 100 years and we are still moving forward and looking towards tomorrow.

I was raised in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. St. Clair Shores is a northeast suburb of Detroit. After graduating high school, I tried many different career options, finally settling on a career in the golf course and lawn care industry. I graduated from Michigan State University in March of 1993, with a certificate in Turf Grass Science and immediately moved out of Michigan. I have spent the last 17 years working for Regal Chemical Company in Alpharetta, GA where I currently am the Commercial Fleet Manager.

I began this journey into the Ministry about 6 years ago when I was a member at Ball Ground UMC. I started as Council Chair, certified Lay Speaker, and I also am a graduate of Leadership UMC a wonderful program sponsored by the conference. I have spent the last year and a half as a member at Jasper UMC and working toward my Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from Reinhardt University. I will earn my degree in May of 2011 and hope to continue on to Emory for my Masters.

The bible says you can’t place your hand on the plow and look back, and at Oak Hill we are looking forward to a bright future bringing God’s word to the Ellijay area. We would like to see you on Sunday Morning for worship, Bible Study or both. Come as you are, we’d love the chance to introduce our friend Jesus Christ to you.
